Running in Romsey

John Horton put on this evening’s street event in Romsey on a new map courtesy of Graham Harrison. For once I hadn’t been orienteering at lunchtime although, as the sun had been shining, I hadn’t been able to resist the group run up to Farley Mount. It didn’t take long for me to decide that I wasn’t going to be able to get all 32 controls but I still didn’t pick a particular good route all the same. Only managed 24 and I was still 26 seconds late back.

Hmm…same old story for me….poor route choice and timing….13.7K (once Id started my watch) 64 mins, 22 controls (but went within 100m of 2 more!)

I hope the legs will recover for sunday!

It’s a tricky one. Once you’ve headed out to the south-east you have no real choice but to continue all the way to the railway crossing which is why I tend to do this first. That said, I think there are generally lots of points to be picked up around the town centre so leaving this to last as I did also isn’t too clever.
