On Friday we continued on to Falmouth, stopping in Exeter to do a bit of shopping. Saturday we headed over to the massive beach at Gwithian so Ian could catch a few waves whilst we amused Emma with bucket and spade. (Must remember to build sandcastles closer to the sea if you want to be able to fill the moat with water!) The next day we went to the Lizard and met up with Sarah’s sister and friends. We did the short walk from the village over to Kynance Cove returning via the lighthouse. It was a gloriously sunny day and the cove was busy but absorbed the numbers well. It’s a perfect spot for kids with lots of bits of beach, pools and caves.
Our luck ran out with the weather on Monday and we spent much of it watching the rain coming down through the window. Things improved for Tuesday though and we made another surfing trip, this time returning to Ian and Sarah’s old home of Porthtowan. We walked along the coast to Chapel Porth where Emma played in amongst the rocks and Ian plucked up the courage to enter the towering waves. The rain returned again on Wednesday but by then it was time to return home (to sunny Southampton!).
