288I was back up in Warwickshire again this week with a colleague and we gave Britannia Hotels a chance to redeem themselves by staying at the Bosworth Hall Hotel in Market Bosworth, close to the site of the Battle of Bosworth. As I suspected, there is actually no accommodation in the hall itself with the rooms in various buildings of assorted ages tacked on to the back. As I also suspected from the bargainous £55 per night, the hotel is primarily a conference venue (we were joined by the Wildlife Trusts).
As with the hotel in Coventry, the décor was looking a bit tired but repainting was under way. At £13.95 for a three course carvery, our meal on Monday night couldn’t really be faulted. There is also a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym in an adjoining building and a free wireless access throughout. There was no danger of being woken by the early morning coach from London this time and indeed it is the location that is the real winner for this hotel. The grounds were superb in this morning’s bright sunshine and there is a Country Park just over the road.
