Sunny walk to Ullevålseter

511To make up for last weekend’s snow bound picture, I thought I’d post another snowy one, only this time with the sun shining too. On Saturday morning we drove round to Hammeren on the North edge of Maridalsvannet (vann is water so that’s a lake). We then walked up the snowy path through the trees to the hut at UllevÃ¥lsetter. Unfortunately the clouds came over whilst we were sat outside enjoying our lunch and hot chocolate so we made a rapid retreat back down the road (the route everyone else seemed to be taking anyway).

In the afternoon the sun had returned and, as usual, we took it in turns to go for a run whilst Emma slept. I discovered just how long you can run continuously uphill for from our apartment – 25 minutes to Frognerseteren and there’s still more to go if you should so chose. I did a loop round to the West from there and back down to Holmenkollen. There’s a great view point at layby near VoksenÃ¥sen which I must return to with my camera on another sunny day.

Unfortunately come Sunday the rain had returned. We made a very short trip to the botanical gardens in the morning. Short because perhaps unsurprisingly there isn’t much to see outside at this time of year. The glasshouses were due to open shortly after we arrived but they didn’t look particularly buggy friendly. That afternoon’s runs were also pretty miserable affairs with freezing rain on the verge of becoming snow.
